Police probe after coins thrown at Lampard, Terry
August 18, 2013Police launched an investigation on Sunday after coins were thrown at Frank Lampard and John Terry during Chelsea’s 2-0 win over West Ham at Stamford Bridge.
Lampard, a former West Ham player, celebrated his 19th-minute goal — his 200th for Chelsea — in front of the away end along with substitute Terry where objects were hurled at them.
“We are investigating instances of coin-throwing at Chelsea verses West Ham on Sunday, March 17. There have been no arrests. Inquiries continue,” said a police spokesman.
A West Ham statement read: “West Ham United will be working with Chelsea to investigate the reports of missile throwing during Sunday’s game at Stamford Bridge.
“Any individual found to have acted in an inappropriate way will have to face the consequences of their actions, including the possibility of a ban from attending future matches.”
