Andy Murray named in Team Great Britain’s men’s singles team
August 17, 2013Andy Murray has been selected by Team Great Britain to compete in this summer’s Olympic Games in London.
The Scotsman, who is due to compete at Wimbledon next week, has been named as the team’s first choice for the men’s singles tennis squad.
The 25-year-old made his Olympic debut four years ago in Beijing but was forced out in round one by Taiwan’s world number 77 Lu Yen-Hsun.
The fourth best player in the world has previously regarded the Olympic event as a highly important tournament and has insisted that he will try to better his performance in 2008.
Rafael Nadal was the standout player in Beijing after receiving gold for beating Chile’s Fernando Gonzalez, while Novak Djokovic nabbed bronze.
